ECG publishes dumsor areas in Accra
Some 25 communities in Greater Accra will be experiencing power outages intermittently, according to the Electricity Company of Ghana.
They include Ghana Steel, Palace Mall, Furniture Citi, Lovely Transport, Kpone Barrier, Kingdom Transport, GPHA Terminal (Kpone), Sethi Realty, Abodakpi Farms and Kpone Dump Site.
The others are Bediako, Golf City and its environs. Additional areas include Kwabenya, Agbogba, Maryera, and part of Teiman, Ayi Mensah, Katapor, Top Herbal, Bohye, Abloradjei, Pure Water, Pokuase, Fountain Gate and surrounding areas.
The power distributor explains that the situation is as a result of a shortfall in power supply by the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) to the Pokuase Bulk Supply Point and the Smelter 2 Bulk Supply Point.
ECG did not give any information about when power supply to these areas would be normalised, except to “assure all affected customers that once GRIDCo turns on supply, power will be restored”.
Ghanaians have been complaining about the situation on Facebook and other social media platforms.
The minority caucus in parliament and the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission have demanded the publication of a load-shedding timetable from the ECG.
However, Energy Minster Mathew Opoku Prempeh parried that request, insisting there was no need for one and asked those making the demands to publish one.
