Embrace ADR for quality justice delivery – Justice Larbi

An appeal court Judge in charge of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), Justice Irene Charity Larbi has urged Ghanaians to embrace ADR to ensure quality justice delivery.

The Judicial Service of Ghana introduced the ADR as a process of resolving cases pending before the courts through mediation.

Speaking at the launch of the ADR week in Ho in the Volta Region on Monday, 9 March 2020, Justice Larbi stated: “We’re here today with you, to sensitise you to use ADR instead of litigation, which is protracted, which is expensive, it is acrimonious which takes a lot of your time and we know time is money and everybody values his or her time. Therefore, the ADR concept which has come to serve as a compliment to the traditional court system has the object of making access to justice cheaper easier expeditious, non-adversarial and faster for the people of Ghana who use our courts.”

She emphasised the reliability of the ADR and called on Ghanaians to embrace it.

“This has also come to help in reducing the back log of cases in the courts substantially due to the mass mediation exercise. This clearly indicates that the ADR mechanism is a reliable partner to the traditional justice delivery system and must, therefore, be embraced by Ghanaians for a quality justice delivery system,” Justice Larbi said.
