Napo pays tribute to late Daasebre Osei Bonsu II
Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the 2024 Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has extended heartfelt condolences to the Mampong Traditional Council following the passing of Daasebre Nana Osei Bonsu II, Mamponghene and esteemed occupant of the Silver Stool of Asanteman.
Popularly known as NAPO, the former Minister for Energy and Member of Parliament for Manhyia South paid a solemn visit to the Asante Mampong Palace to commiserate with the Mamponghemaa, the widow of the late chief, the royal family, and the people of Mampong.
In an emotional tribute, Dr. Opoku Prempeh described the late Mamponghene as a father figure whose wisdom and counsel played a profound role in his personal and political life.
“Nana’s passing is a great loss to Mampong and Asanteman, but I feel the loss most personally because Daasebre was a father figure to me.
I will deeply miss his mentoring, counselling, and guidance,” he said.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh further pledged his unwavering support to the royal family and the Mampong Traditional Council throughout the doteyie (pre-burial rites) and the final funeral ceremonies of the late chief.
Daasebre Nana Osei Bonsu II was revered for his leadership, commitment to development, and dedicated service to the Asante Kingdom.
His passing marks the end of an era for the people of Mampong, who have expressed deep sorrow over the loss of a distinguished traditional leader.
