Fire engulfs scrap yard near Ashaiman’s China Mall, destroying millions in property

A massive fire has engulfed a scrap yard near the China Mall in the Ashaiman municipality of the Greater Accra Region, destroying nearly 17 containers and other properties worth millions of Ghana cedis.
The blaze, which caused significant damage but resulted in no casualties, was brought under control by a combined team of firefighters from Tema and Ashaiman.
Speaking on the incident, DOIII Ebenezer Yenzu of the Ghana National Fire Service stated that the cause of the fire remains unknown, and investigations are underway to determine its origin.
He also urged scrap yard dealers and companies to exercise caution, particularly during changing weather conditions, to prevent such disasters.
The swift response from the fire service helped prevent further destruction, though the losses incurred remain substantial.
