Fire guts Makola's Zongo lane, wrecks shops

A fire broke out on Sunday, 1 September 2024, at the Zongo lane, Makola in Accra.
Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) were at the scene to extinguish the fire.
Thick smoke was seen billowing from the tops of buildings housing shops.
However, the firefighters worked to ensure the inferno did not cause further damage.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
