Two non-governmental organisations (NGOs), Dream Shapers Foundation and Masterpeace Ghana, as part of a three-day end-of-year programme, have spent this year's Christmas with the people of Tokpo in the Dangme West District   (Greater Accra).

The two organisations first went to the community to renovate their clinic.

The organisations also administered some health education and free screening for malaria, hypertension and blood sugar for the people in the community, in conjunction with the community health personnel.

They donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the locals and the clinic to protect themselves from the deadly coronavirus pandemic.

Also, a wheelchair and other consumable and non-consumable medical items, which were supported by Pharmanova Ghana Limited and Alma Medical Laboratory, were donated to the clinic.

According to the senior staff of the clinic, the only health facility that serves the community needs a lot of assistance in terms of logistics and operational equipment.

They, therefore, made an appeal to the government and their Member of Parliament to come to their aid.

Additionally, as part of the NGOs' vision to equip their beneficiaries with skills that could make them self-reliant, they took some of the community members through some training.

The indigenes were taught how to make tie-and-dye fabrics, pastry, liquid soap, hand sanitiser, as well as antenna installation.

All the trainees were given equipment to start a business, which was supported by Cherash Catch and Kasy's Kitchen.
