GES to meet heads of schools in viral violence video today
The Ministry of Education has strongly condemned acts of violence captured in viral videos circulating on social media, believed to involve students from two schools in the Central Region.
In a statement signed by Deputy Minister for Education, Clement Abas Apaak, the Ministry described the incidents as unacceptable and assured the public that swift action would be taken.
According to the statement, the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has been directed to launch an immediate investigation into the matter.
The Director-General is scheduled to meet with the Central Regional Director of GES, the affected district directors, and the heads of the schools involved at 10:00 a.m. on February 23, 2026, at the GES headquarters in Accra.
While awaiting the outcome of the investigation, the Ministry emphasised that both the Minister for Education and the Deputy Minister take the matter very seriously.
“The culprits and perpetrators can expect the most severe sanctions,” the statement warned.
The Ministry reiterated its commitment to maintaining discipline, safety, and order within Ghana’s educational institutions and assured the public that appropriate measures would be implemented following the investigation.
