Ga Mantse lays flowers in honour of helicopter crash victims
The Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, together with his elders, on Saturday, August 9, paid tribute to the victims of the August 6 military helicopter crash by laying flowers in their honour.
The ceremony, held as part of the three-day national mourning declared by the government, commemorated the lives of Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, and six others who perished in the tragic incident.
The flower-laying, which began on the first day of mourning, continues to draw a steady stream of mourners, including dignitaries, political leaders, and members of the public, to pay their last respects.
An inter-denominational state funeral for all eight victims is scheduled to take place at the Black Star Square on Friday, August 15, 2025.

Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala
Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu
Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah
The helicopter, a Ghana Armed Forces Z-9, went off radar en route to Obuasi, plunging the nation into mourning.
