Ghana not growing – UDP Founder
Ghana is not experiencing the needed growth because politicians from the two biggest parties – the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) – do not have the interest of the country at heart, Dr Yaw Kummey, the founder and leader of the United Democratic Party (UDP), has said.
He said on Accra100.5FM’s morning show Ghana Yensom on Monday, 25 November 2019 that he has Ghana’s overall interest at heart and, therefore, his party should be supported to win the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections.
“Bring your ideas and let us move this country forward to the next stage because Ghana is not growing”, he implored, adding: “The others who want to come to power are not coming for the country’s interest but for their families. I won’t do that. I am prepared for the next elections.”
Dr Kummey, a businessman, also called for attitudinal change among Ghanaians to ensure that the country progresses.
He explained that no matter who Ghana’s leader is, if the governed do not behave well, the country won’t develop.
“Ghanaians must change their attitude to make Ghana a better place. If we don’t change our attitude, we will continue to face the problems that we are facing at the moment,” he told show host Kwabena Prah Jnr (The Don).
