Ghanaian parliamentary delegation safe amidst Kenyan protests

The Parliamentary Service of Ghana has assured the public that the five Members of Parliament and the officer who embarked on an official visit to the Parliament of Kenya are safe and secure.
The delegation, comprising members of the Local Government Committee of Parliament, includes Chair of the Committee Emmanuel Akwasi Gyamfi, Ranking Member Nii Lante Vanderpuye, Sylvester Tetteh, Thomas Ampem Nyarko, Mohammed Taferu, and Senior Principal Assistant Clerk Anita Quartey Papafio.
According to a statement from the Parliamentary Service, the delegation was on a benchmarking visit to the Kenyan Parliament when youth protests erupted against a bill before parliament, leading to parts of the legislative house being set ablaze.
The statement mentioned that the Ghanaians were immediately escorted to safety in a Senate building and eventually evacuated to their hotel by officials of the Kenyan Parliament.
