I’m dedicated to deepening media freedom – Bawumia
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has assured that an NPP-led government would maintain a strong partnership with the media, with a firm commitment to upholding media freedom if elected in the 2024 general elections.
During an interaction with journalists in Accra on Sunday, August 25, Dr. Bawumia praised the Ghanaian media for their significant role in national development and in supporting his political campaigns.
“The NPP sees the media as a crucial partner in national development,” Dr. Bawumia remarked. He highlighted the party’s history of supporting press freedom, recalling how the NPP, under former President J. A. Kufuor, repealed the criminal libel law, allowing the media to operate freely.
“As the new leader of the NPP, I am committed to continuing this partnership. We are dedicated to deepening media freedom and working closely with you,” he added.
