Interior Minister donates 60 Pickups, 20 motorbikes to police to bolster 24-hour economy Initiative

The Minister for the Interior, Alhaji Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka, has handed over 60 pickup vehicles and 20 motorbikes to the Ghana Police Service as part of efforts to strengthen security support for the government’s 24-hour economy initiative.
The vehicles, which were assembled locally by Zonda Tec Ghana Limited, are expected to significantly enhance the operational capacity of the police in providing continuous security for workers and businesses operating under the 24-hour economy framework.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the Minister announced the establishment of a specialised unit within the Ghana Police Service that will offer round-the-clock protection tailored specifically for the needs of the 24-hour economic model.
“These vehicles, proudly assembled right here in Ghana by Zonda Tec, represent our commitment not only to improving the logistics of our security services but also to promoting local manufacturing,” the Minister stated.
The donation comes at a time when the government is accelerating key policy initiatives to drive economic growth and create a secure environment for investment and business expansion.
During a recent visit to Zonda Tec’s assembly plant, the Minister also disclosed that the Interior Ministry is working to digitalise the issuance of work permits and employment quotas to streamline regulatory processes and make Ghana more business-friendly.
“I want to encourage all businesses to take full advantage of the opportunities under the 24-hour economy, but always operate within the confines of the law.
The Ministry remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of every Ghanaian,” he added.
Madam Yang Yang, CEO of Zonda Tec, lauded the partnership and expressed pride in her company’s role in supporting national security.
“This initiative underscores the critical role of local industry in supporting national institutions like the Ghana Police Service,” she noted.
