Kumasi: New terminal at Prempeh I Int'l Airport to begin operations July 1

The Ghana Airports Company Limited has announced that the new terminal building at Prempeh I International Airport in Kumasi will become operational on Monday, July 1, 2024.
To ensure a smooth transition from the old terminal, comprehensive simulations will be conducted from June 25 to June 30, including subsystem simulations and two full-scale integrated simulations.
Three live flights are scheduled to depart from the new terminal between June 28 and June 30, with passengers on Africa World Airlines and Passion Air advised to take note of the new arrangements.
The new terminal features a capacity to handle 800,000 passengers annually, process 200 passengers per hour, and includes numerous amenities such as passenger boarding bridges, lounges, boarding gates, check-in desks, immigration booths, and commercial retail areas.
President Akufo-Addo and Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II officially commissioned the airport, previously known as Kumasi International Airport, on May 10, 2024.
The renaming honors Otumfuo Agyemang Prempeh I and coincides with the 25th anniversary of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II's enstoolment.
