Mahama, Akufo-Addo inaugurate 2024 National Transition Team
President-elect John Dramani Mahama has met with outgoing President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House in Accra to formally inaugurate the 2024 National Transition Team.
The meeting was held on Wednesday, 11th December and marks setting the stage for an orderly and peaceful transfer of power from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The National Transition Team, a constitutionally mandated body, is tasked with overseeing the handover process.
Its responsibilities include briefing the incoming government on vital state matters, granting access to key government data, and coordinating the formal swearing-in of the President-elect.
Speaking during the ceremony, President-elect Mahama reiterated his commitment to fostering national unity and stability as his administration prepares to take office.
“Mr President has given me a brief on the security situation, both internal and external, and also a short brief on issues having to do with the economy.
“The transitional teams will drill down further into these matters, and we are going to work together in the interest of Ghana to ensure a seamless transition,” he noted.
Outgoing President Akufo-Addo echoed similar sentiments, pledging his full support to the process and underscoring the importance of cooperation for the nation’s benefit.
“I assure him [John Dramani Mahama] of my full support and that of my government over the transitional process to make sure that his administration takes off in the best of condition,” President Akufo-Addo stated.
