The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Mr. Samuel Okudzeto -Ablakwa, has assured the family of a Ghanaian student who died under mysterious circumstances in Latvia of the government’s full commitment to uncovering the truth and ensuring justice.

The deceased, Nana Adjei, reportedly passed away in Latvia, prompting concern from both the family and the Ghanaian public.

Addressing the matter, Mr Ablakwa stated that the government will not relent in its efforts to demand transparency and accountability from all parties involved.

According to the Foreign Affairs Minister, a high-level Ghanaian delegation will travel to Latvia on January 20 to engage relevant authorities and closely follow the ongoing investigations.

The delegation will include family members of the deceased as well as forensic experts to support efforts at establishing the cause of death.

Mr. Ablakwa emphasised that the investigation will be conducted with full international cooperation to ensure credibility and fairness.

He noted that the government is determined to protect the rights and dignity of all Ghanaians, regardless of where they reside.

President John Dramani Mahama, he disclosed, is fully backing the family and has directed that every necessary diplomatic and legal step be taken to seek justice.

The Minister stressed that the safety and welfare of Ghanaians abroad remain a top priority for the government.

“No Ghanaian will be allowed to be ill-treated. We will stand firmly with the family,” Mr. Ablakwa assured.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry says it will continue to engage Latvian authorities and provide regular updates as the investigation progresses.
