The administration of the Ghana police service has said it “wishes to state categorically” that some men seen in a viral photo eating together with killed trader Albert Donkor, are not police officers as widely claimed on social media.

“Those men seen in the picture are not police officers from Nkoranza South or any part of the country”, the police noted.

“Our investigations have revealed that this is a picture of Albert Donkor and his five friends, none of whom is a police officer, which was taken at a funeral at Boana in the Nkoranza North District, which is approximately 20 kilometres away from Nkoranza”, a statement issued on Wednesday, 25 May 2022 said.

“We consider this as a calculated attempt by the people behind this mischief to drug the name of Ghana Police into disrepute”, the police added.

The police has admitted to the shooting and killing of Albert Donkor, who the administration said was an armed robber.

The townsfolk of Nkoranza, however, believe Donkor was eliminated by the police because he saw some officers taking part in a highway robbery.
