'Obey KMA rules or I lash you' - MCE to traders

The newly appointed Metropolitan Chief Executive of Kumasi, Mr. Richard Ofori-Agyemang Boadi, popularly known as "King Zuba," has issued a firm warning to traders operating on road medians and unauthorized spaces within the city.
In his first major public address since assuming office, the MCE made it clear that his administration will not tolerate lawlessness and is ready to enforce strict measures to restore order.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, King Zuba announced that traders who ignore directives to vacate unauthorized areas will face immediate repercussions.
“When we give an order and you fail to comply, be assured that when I arrive with my team, we will take the necessary action without delay,” he declared.
“If I show up with my ten trusted assistants in their truck, compliance will not be an option—it will be enforced.”
He described his leadership approach as a “democratic military style of discipline,” emphasizing that his goal is to uphold peace and order in the city.
“I won’t accept a situation where offenders are arrested and then released, only to return to the streets. That’s a waste of our time and resources,” he stated.
“If we approach you respectfully to obey the rules for the common good, we expect cooperation.
If you resist, you will face the consequences.”
King Zuba reiterated his commitment to preserving Kumasi’s legacy as the “Garden City of Africa,” asserting that the city must reflect the pride and heritage of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
“This is Otumfuo’s city, and we will showcase it as such. Discipline, order, and beauty must define Kumasi.”
In a surprising addition, the MCE also warned livestock owners who allow their animals—particularly cattle—to stray into the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) zone.
He stated emphatically that such animals will be killed and used to feed inmates in Ghana’s prison system.
“Kumasi is not a grazing field,” he said. “Any stray animals found in the KMA zone will be seized and slaughtered to feed prisoners.
That’s a promise.”
