Religion shouldn't divide us – Bawumia
Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has advised Ghanaians not to allow religion to be used as a vehicle for hatred to divide them.
Dr Bawumia said this on Thursday, 27 February 2020 when the Board of Directors of the Sanneh Institute (TSI) called on him at the Jubilee House.
The Sanneh Institute is named after the late Prof Lamin Sanneh who taught for many years at the University of Yale in the USA.
Professor Sanneh was a world-acclaimed academic and researcher in the area of religion and society.
Yale University is supporting the establishment of this research institute in his honour.
The work of Professor Sanneh emphasises the need for the peaceful coexistence and tolerance of humankind, Christians, Muslims and other religious groups.
“We have more in common than we realise and we should not allow religion to be used as a vehicle for hatred to divide humanity,” Dr Bawumia said.
