UN disowns 'Dr UN' and his 'fake' awards
The Ghana chapter of the United Nations (UN in Ghana) has dissociated itself from the trending Blueprint Global Challenge Awards.
A press statement from the UN office in Ghana stated that “the United Nations (neither in Ghana or anywhere else) has no affiliation” to the said award scheme or its organisers.
The UN in Ghana, therefore, advises the public to access genuine information by visiting the relevant UN agencies’ websites or the UN Ghana website (https://ghana.un.org/en).
One Dr Kwame Owusu Fordjour, also known as Dr UN, went viral on social media after he was purported to have given “fake” awards to some key personalities and celebrities in Ghana.
‘Dr UN’ organised the 7th edition of Blueprint Global Challenge Awards on 28 August 2020 where he presented the likes of Sarkodie, Nathaniel Attoh and D-Black with the awards.
Other recipients are Captain Smart, Johnnie Hughes, Daughters of Glorious Jesus, Berla Mundi, Kobby Asmah (Daly Graphic editor), Apostle Kantanka, Chairman Wontumi and DJ Black among others.
Dr UN portrayed himself as being associated with the UN.
