Afia Korankyewaa says NPP has collapsed, calls it Ghana’s biggest problem
Media personality and commentator Afia Korankyewaa has described former NPP activist Ken Korankye as one of the loyal foot soldiers who “suffered” for the New Patriotic Party, but says the party itself is now in crisis and has become one of the country’s biggest challenges.
Speaking on the morning show with Chief Jerry Forson on Accra FM, Afia Korankyewaa took listeners down memory lane about the sacrifices made by some NPP members in the party’s early days.
According to her, Ken Korankye was actively involved in party activities at a time when he worked in a printing press that produced propaganda materials to promote the NPP’s message and agenda.
She recalled a specific incident during a politically charged period when Ken Korankye was jailed for two weeks following a court verdict. Afia noted that the imprisonment happened at a time when his wife had just given birth, making the situation even more difficult for the family.
“Ken Korankye is one of the people who have suffered in the NPP party,” she stated on the show. “Those were the days people went through a lot just to see the party grow.”
However, Afia Korankyewaa said the story has changed. She declared that the NPP has “collapsed” and argued that the party now represents “the biggest problem of the day in Ghana.”
“After we solve the flood issue in this country, the next big problem we need to solve is the NPP,” she said. “Even Ken Korankye himself is aware of what the party has become today.”
