Concerns have been raised about the health of New Patriotic Party (NPP) Director of Communications Dennis 'Miracles' Aboagye following his arrest by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), with his wife reportedly indicating that he is currently on medication.

The disclosure was made by NPP National Communications Team member Benjamin Agyewaa Appiah, who said he spoke to Mr Aboagye’s wife and was informed about his medical situation.

“That has become our fear,” Mr Appiah said, expressing concern about Mr Aboagye’s continued stay in custody.

His comments came as NPP supporters gathered at the EOCO headquarters in Accra on Monday, July 13, 2026, demanding the release of the party’s Director of Communications.

The supporters said they mobilised after receiving news of Mr Aboagye’s arrest and wanted to ensure he was released.

Speaking to journalists, Mr Appiah, who led the group, said they were concerned about developments surrounding the arrest.

“We heard the news yesterday and decided to gather our people to come here. What is happening in the country is very sad. We came to make sure at the end of the day we see Miracle with us,” he said.

He said a close associate of Mr Aboagye had confirmed that he was at EOCO and that his lawyers were working on his bail conditions.

Mr Appiah also expressed concern about the length of time Mr Aboagye had spent in custody, saying he had been held for more than 48 hours.

He appealed to President John Mahama to intervene and direct EOCO Chief Executive Raymond Archer to release Mr Aboagye.

“If by close of day we don’t hear anything, our demonstration will continue until we see Miracles finally with us,” he warned.

Mr Aboagye, a former Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD), was arrested by EOCO as part of investigations into alleged financial and procurement-related irregularities involving about GH¢55 million at the Secretariat.

EOCO has said the investigations relate to suspected offences including conspiracy to steal and stealing, using public office for profit, causing financial loss to the state, dissipation of public funds, defrauding by false pretences, money laundering, and other related offences.

The Office has also indicated that Mr Aboagye will be granted bail in accordance with the Constitution and the laws of Ghana while investigations continue.
