Wassa: Another policeman bloodily beaten by civilian gang

General News
A gang of civilians led by a tradition leader in Wassa Akropong has beaten a policeman to a pulp.

Inspector Tetteh Agbanyo, the station officer of Wassa Akropong police command was allegedly pounced upon by a gang of thugs led by one Odikro Abreshia, Dailyguideafrica.com reported on Friday, 23 March 2019.

The Odikro also threatened to kill the officer.

The assault happened around dusk after an earlier confrontation between the officer and the traditional leader over the wrong parking of a car around the station, which, according to the officer, obstructed the movement of the uniformed men.

In the earlier confrontation, Dailyguideafrica.com reported that the Odikro slapped the officer, hooked him by the neck and tore his uniform.

He then escaped arrest but returned later around 5 p.m. with five well-built thugs who attacked the officer and punched him the nose leaving him bloodied.

The Odikro was later arrested and would be transferred to the Division Headquarters for further investigation.

The Wassa incident comes a few days after a commercial bus driver and his conductor were captured on video brutally assaulting an officer in Accra.
