We’re sorry: Police issues apology following traffic chaos on Accra-Ofankor highway

The Ghana Police Service has issued a formal apology to the public following the severe traffic congestion experienced on the Accra-Ofankor stretch of the N6 Highway on Wednesday, November 22, 2023.
The cause of the traffic gridlock was attributed to the Course 52 Cadet Officers’ Graduation Ceremony held at the National Police Training School (NPTS) in Tesano, Accra.
In an official statement, the Inspector-General of Police and the entire Ghana Police Service expressed sincere apologies to the commuting public and other road users who were adversely affected by the unexpected traffic situation.
The statement acknowledged the significant inconvenience caused and assured citizens that steps would be taken to prevent a recurrence.
The traffic disruption caused widespread inconvenience as commuters and other road users experienced delays and difficulties navigating through the Accra-Ofankor stretch of the N6 Highway.
Highlighting the gravity of the situation, the statement indicated that the Ghana Police Service has taken note of the relevant lessons learned from the incident.
