Wednesday’s downpour leaves Accra flooded

Parts of Accra have been severely flooded following a heavy downpour on Wednesday, 3nJuly 2024, leading to major disruptions in vehicular traffic across the city.
Key routes, including the stretch from the Airport through Shangri-La to Shiashie, were significantly affected, resulting in extensive traffic congestion.
Other areas such as Tantra Hill, Adabraka Sahara, the Ofankor-Pokuase stretch, the Accra-Tema motorway, and Kaneshie First Light were also inundated.
The floodwaters have heavily impacted road users and businesses, leaving major roads submerged and impassable.
Many commuters had to park their cars, waiting for the rain to subside, while others cautiously navigated through the flood-covered roads to avoid water damage to their engines.
The flooding forced numerous shops to close, exacerbating the disruption.
