Your fidelity to the country's dev’t was unquestionable – Bawumia mourns Akoto Osei

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia says he is shocked of the news of the passing of Dr. Anthony Akoto Osei, former MP and Minister.
Dr. Bawumia said the late Dr Osei was a very good friend and one of the people he worked closely with as a Deputy Governor and Vice President.
According to the Vice President, the late MP’s dedication to serving Ghana was “unpaired and his fidelity to the country's development was unquestionable.”
In a Facebook post, Dr Bawumia disclosed that he paid him a visit just a few weeks ago and was happy that he was doing much better. The news of his passing, therefore, has completely shocked him.
The former Old Tafo MP and former minister of state in charge of monitoring and evaluation passed away on Monday, 20 March 2023.
The circumstances of his death are sketchy for now.
His passing was announced on the Facebook page of the parliament of Ghana.
He was 69 years old.
Mr Osei was in the cabinet of former President John Agyekum Kufuor as Minister of State for Finance and Economic Planning.
He became a member of the Management Board of Merchant Bank (Ghana) Ltd, in March 2002.
Prior, he served as an Associate Professor at Dollard University (USA) and as a Research Assistant at the Center for Policy Analysis (Ghana).
In May, 2017, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo named Akoto Osei as part of 19 ministers to form his cabinet.
