Anaesthetists suspend strike
Members of the Ghana Association of Certified Registered Anaesthetists have suspended their strike following an engagement with the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders.
The association started an indefinite nationwide strike on Saturday, 1 January 2022 over what it described as the expiration of the licence of its members.
They are expected to renew their licence with the Medical and Dental Council to enable them to practice every year.
However, they have refused to do so because the association has parted ways with the Medical and Dental Council.
The association, therefore, wants the Ministry of Health to lead the charge in ensuring that their licences are renewed.
The National Public Relations Officer of the group, Mr Seth McAndoh, said after a fruitful deliberation with all relevant stakeholders, including the Ministry of Health, Christian Health Association of Ghana, Medical and Dental Council and the Ghana Health Service, the Ministry of Health has promised to address their concerns hence their decision to suspend the strike.
