Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia on Tuesday, 15 May 2024 joined executives and members of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association, in Accra to observe this year's International Day for Nurses and Midwives.
In his remarks, he highlighted the significance of the day, saying “it serves as an important reminder of the invaluable service Ghanaian nurses and midwives offer us, from the front line of our healthcare delivery.”
Dr Bawumia commended and congratulated all nurses and midwives, for their selflessness and dedication.
Boasting about what the government has done in the health sector, the Vice President stated that the government has demonstrated strong commitment to the progress of the healthcare system through impactful interventions such as, ambulances for all constituencies, delivery of essential medical supplies to remote areas through drones, digitalisation of NHIS renewal, digitalisation of hospital records, establishment of e-pharmacy, construction of hospitals in regional and district capitals (Agenda 111) and recruitment of about 100,000 nurses since 2017.
He said if elected President, he will strengthen these major gains, and also prioritise the welfare of healthcare professionals.
