Coronavirus: We’re doing our best to keep Ghanaians safe – GHS
The Director of Public Health at the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr Badu Sarkordie, has said the Chinese authorities have the expertise and resources to deal with the Coronavirus outbreak which has killed some 1,016 people so far with 60,000 people infected.
Dr Sarkodie said the Asian giant has been through this problem in the past with the SARS epidemic, and successfully combatted it, therefore, this, he said, will also be defeated.
“They are good at managing such viruses. They have done it before in the case of SARS; they handled it... and, as much as possible, they have the expertise, the resources are there,” he told Accra 100.5FM’s Richard Appiah Sarpong.
Dr Sarkodie further stated that Ghanaians living in China are being monitored to ensure that they are not infected.
“We are monitoring very closely; the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in close contact with Ghana’s Ambassador and we're doing our best to ensure that our children are safe.”
