As part of preparations for the 78th World Health Assembly (#WHA78) scheduled for later this year, Ghana’s Minister for Health, Mr Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has held a strategic meeting with Dr. Fiona Braka, the World Health Organisation (WHO) representative in Ghana.
The meeting focused on aligning Ghana’s health priorities with the global health agenda and ensuring the country’s effective participation at the Assembly.
Discussions between the Minister and Dr. Braka centred on key national health priorities, including universal health coverage, strengthening health systems, improving disease surveillance, and enhancing pandemic preparedness and response.
Mr. Akandoh emphasised the government’s commitment to advancing quality healthcare delivery for all Ghanaians and highlighted the importance of Ghana’s contributions to shaping global health policy at the upcoming Assembly.
Dr. Braka, for her part, reiterated WHO’s continued support for Ghana in achieving its health sector goals and praised the country’s progress in several key health indicators.
The World Health Assembly, the decision-making body of WHO, brings together health ministers and experts from around the world to discuss critical health issues and set the organisation’s priorities for the coming year. WHA78 is expected to take place in Geneva, Switzerland
