Health Minister visits Tamale Teaching Hospital over alleged malpractice and facility concerns

The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has paid an unannounced working visit to the Tamale Teaching Hospital in the Northern Region following disturbing reports of alleged medical malpractice leading to the death of a referred patient.
The visit was prompted by viral social media reports over the weekend, which accused some healthcare workers at the facility of negligence in the handling of the patient’s case.
The Minister’s goal was to gather firsthand information and ensure a thorough review of the circumstances surrounding the incident.
While touring the hospital, the situation grew more tense when Mr Akandoh inspected the public restroom facilities and expressed deep concern over their deplorable state.
His reaction underscored broader issues of sanitation and patient care at the facility.
The Health Minister has assured the public of a full investigation into both the alleged malpractice and the poor sanitary conditions, pledging that any persons found culpable will face appropriate disciplinary action.
