Hisense Ghana has donated a Hisense Colour Doppler Ultrasound Diagnostic Apparatus to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi,  Ashanti Region, to enhance the hospital’s diagnostic capacity and improve patient care.

The gesture, part of Hisense Ghana’s ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, comes at a crucial time when the hospital—one of the largest referral centres in Ghana serving 12 out of the country’s 16 regions—has been struggling with outdated equipment and limited resources.

Hospital management has long emphasised the need for modern diagnostic tools, noting that budgetary constraints have made it difficult to procure essential medical equipment like ultrasound systems.

Presenting the machine on behalf of the company, Hisense Brand Ambassador Nana Ama McBrown reaffirmed Hisense’s commitment to strengthening Ghana’s healthcare system and supporting institutions that provide life-saving services.

“Hisense believes in giving back to society, especially in critical areas like health.

This donation is part of our effort to ensure that healthcare professionals have the right tools to deliver quality care,” McBrown stated.

Hisense Ghana has a consistent record of contributions to the health sector.

In August 2020, the company donated two ambulances worth $90,000 to the Apinto Government Hospital and Tarkwa Municipal Hospital.

More recently, in 2023, it presented an ultrasound diagnostic system valued at over $50,000 to the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC).

Receiving the new ultrasound system on behalf of KATH, Chief Executive Officer Dr. Paa Kwasi Baidoo expressed deep appreciation to Hisense Ghana for the timely and generous support.

“This equipment will significantly improve our diagnostic services and help us provide more efficient and accurate care to patients,” Dr. Baidoo said.

“We encourage other corporate entities to emulate Hisense’s example and support healthcare delivery in Ghana.”
