The Provost of the College of Health Sciences at the University of Ghana, Rev Prof P. F. Ayeh-Kumi, delivered an inspiring message to the graduating students of Family Health University College Medical School, urging them to embody the values and principles instilled in them during their education.
Addressing the 2024 Matriculation and Graduation ceremony held at Family Health University College, located opposite the Kofi Annan Peacekeeping Training Centre at Teshie in the Greater Accra Region, Rev Prof P. F. Ayeh-Kumi emphasised the importance of letting their education reflect in their actions.
He encouraged the graduating students to be unique, strive for excellence, and embrace creativity and innovation in their careers.
Highlighting the keys to success, Rev Prof P. F. Ayeh-Kumi urged the students to seek wisdom, experience, and expertise, while emphasising the significance of quality, branding, and global thinking.
He expressed his hope that the students would apply these principles in their professional lives to achieve success.
Commending the efforts of the Founder and President of Family Health University College, Prof Yao Kwawukume, and his team, Rev Prof P. F. Ayeh-Kumi praised the college for its continuous improvement and commitment to excellence.
The ceremony saw the graduation of 48 students, including 33 with BSc. Medical Sciences and 15 from the Graduate Entry Medical Programme (GEMP), who were awarded Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MB ChB) degrees.
Additionally, approximately 60 freshmen and women participated in the matriculation ceremony, with 42 of them taking part in the 'white coat' ceremony.
Rev Prof P. F. Ayeh-Kumi reminded the graduands of the evolving nature of the healthcare field, stressing the importance of adaptability, compassion, and forward-thinking in their professional endeavours.
He encouraged them to approach patients with care and empathy, recognising the uniqueness of each individual and the need for personalized care.
Furthermore, Rev Prof P. F. Ayeh-Kumi emphasised the importance of continuous learning and collaboration in the healthcare profession, urging future healthcare professionals to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to address the complex needs of patients.
