The Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG) has urged parents in Kwaprow, a suburb of Cape Coast in the Central Region, to prevent child marriage by closely monitoring their teenage daughters to guard against unwanted pregnancies that often lead to such marriages.

Rejoice Kwawukumey, Project Coordinator for PPAG, made this appeal during the distribution of sanitary pads, condoms, and refreshments to adolescent girls in the community.

She cautioned parents to stay vigilant and advised teenage girls against unprotected sex, highlighting the adverse physical and psychological effects it can have on their health.

Nana Kwesi Mensah II, the Chief of Kwaprow, expressed concern over the rising cases of teenage pregnancy in his community and lamented that many parents oppose measures aimed at curbing the issue.

Mrs. Heidi Egyir, the wife of the Kwaprow Chief, who provided the sanitary pads for distribution, explained her motivation behind the gesture, emphasizing the importance of supporting young girls in maintaining their health and well-being.
