O/R: 22 hospitalised in Nkwanta over alleged food poisoning

Some residents of a farming community in the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region, Agou, have been hospitalised following alleged food poisoning.
The residents, numbering 22, who ate at a funeral they attended in the community on Sunday, 14 May 2023, suffered diarrhea and vomiting.
According to the victims, they were served a locally brewed drink; pito, rice, Banku, and meat at the funeral.
Thirteen of the victims are on admission at the Nkwanta South Municipal Hospital while nine have been admitted to the St. Joseph Catholic Hospital also in Nkwanta.
The samples of the victims have since been taken to the laboratory for examination with investigations underway.
The victims who are reported to have all gone to the hospital with similar complaints are currently responding to treatment.
