#2024Polls: Mahama thanks God for preparing a table before his enemies

President-elect John Dramani Mahama has expressed deep gratitude to God and the people of Ghana following his decisive victory in the 2024 general election.
Delivering his victory speech on Monday, 9 December, Mr. Mahama credited the Almighty for guiding him throughout the campaign and granting him the opportunity to lead the nation once again.
Reflecting on his re-election, he quoted scripture, saying: “The results of this election by the Electoral Commission show that NDC, with me, John Dramani Mahama as the leader, just chalked one of the most emphatic victories in the history of Ghana.
“Let me begin by thanking God, the creator of the universe, for protecting and preserving us through this whole campaign period. I also give thanks to God for preparing a table before me in the presence of my enemies.”
Mr. Mahama also expressed appreciation to Ghanaians for their overwhelming support, acknowledging their faith in his leadership and vision.
The Electoral Commission confirmed Mr. Mahama’s victory with 6,328,397 votes, representing 56.55 per cent of the valid votes cast.
His main rival, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), secured 4,657,304 votes, representing 41.61 per cent.
The president-elect’s victory also marked a significant achievement for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which secured a majority in Parliament.
The party claimed over 160 seats, including key constituencies traditionally held by the ruling NPP.
