#2024Polls: Patrick Yaw Boamah secures victory in Okaikwei Central after EC's re-collation

Mr Patrick Yaw Boamah, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament, has reclaimed the Okaikwei Central seat following a dramatic re-collation of results at the Greater Accra Regional Office of the Electoral Commission (EC).
The re-collation overturned an earlier declaration that had favoured the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Baba Sadiq Abdulai Abu, with Boamah emerging victorious with 21,099 votes to Sadiq’s 19,368.
In his victory address, Boamah expressed gratitude to his constituents for their support and trust, reaffirming his commitment to advocating for their development in Parliament.
“Elections are a cornerstone of democracy, and I deeply appreciate the confidence you have placed in me,” he stated.
Boamah also acknowledged the spirited competition from his opponent, emphasizing the importance of unity and collaboration in fostering growth for the Constituency.
The outcome brings the NPP a significant win in a hotly contested parliamentary race.
