A/R: Group calls for Effiduase Asokore MP's removal

A pressure group in the Effiduasi-Asokore Constituency known as the Sekyere East NPP United Association has called on delegates of the governing New Patriotic Party and the constituents there to vote against the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Dr Ayew Afriyie in the upcoming parliamentary primaries.
According to the group, the MP cannot account for the various common fund proceeds assigned to him which were meant for development projects in the constituency.
The group is, therefore, urging the delegates to vote the MP out in order to ensure peace, accountability, good human relations and respect for constituency development in the area.
The Sekyere East NPP United Association further added that the tactics used by Dr Afriyie is causing disaffection among party faithful and breaking the party apart, a development they said is likely to have serious consequences on the fortunes of the NPP in the constituency.
The group, however, assured the constituents to remain calm since there would be nothing like a candidate running unopposed in the constituency.
The association emphasised that: “70 people out of over 400 delegates cannot claim to constitute a majority” and urged the constituents to ignore the claim of a resolution passed by the delegates to make the sitting MP go unopposed in the upcoming primaries.
