The Member of Parliament for Asawase Constituency in the Ashanti Region and Minister for the Interior, Mr Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, has visited the Aboabo Akurem Highlanders Park to inspect ongoing construction works on the long-abandoned Astro Turf project.
The facility, which had stalled under the previous government, has been revived after the MP secured fresh funding to complete it.
Speaking during the inspection, Alhaji Muntaka reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring the project is delivered on schedule, stressing its significance for youth development, sports, and community cohesion in Asawase.
Residents of the area expressed excitement over the progress, describing the Astro Turf as a long-awaited intervention that will finally provide a safe, modern space for football and other recreational activities.
According to the contractor, the project is expected to be completed within four months.
Once operational, the facility is expected to nurture sporting talent and create opportunities for young people across the constituency.
