Former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya Constituency in the Greater Accra Region,  Sarah Adwoa Safo, has firmly denied reports suggesting she has defected from the camp of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) leader, to support her baby father, Kennedy Agyapong.

In a press statement issued on Wednesday, Adwoa Safo described the publication by The Insight Newspaper as “false, misleading, and maliciously fabricated”, emphasising that it was a deliberate attempt to sow confusion within the NPP and among her supporters.

“At no point in time have I made any statement, whether on record, in private conversation, or on any public platform, suggesting that I have withdrawn my support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia,” she stated.

“Such publications are mischievous and aimed at undermining the unity we continue to build after the 2024 general elections.”

The former MP reaffirmed her “firm loyalty” to Dr. Bawumia, commending his leadership qualities and expressing confidence in his ability to lead the party to victory in the 2028 elections.

“Dr. Bawumia has demonstrated exceptional leadership, humility, competence, and resilience even in the face of adversity.

I strongly believe he remains the best person to lead the New Patriotic Party into the 2028 elections and ultimately return the party to power,” she said.

Adwoa Safo also cautioned the media—particularly The Insight Newspaper—against publishing unverified and speculative stories, urging adherence to the principles of responsible journalism, fairness, and truth.

“I call on The Insight Newspaper to immediately retract the said publication and issue an unqualified apology to set the record straight,” she demanded.

She concluded her statement by stressing the need for unity within the NPP as the party reorganises following its 2024 electoral defeat.

“The unity and progress of the NPP remain paramount, and I continue to pledge my unflinching support to Dr. Bawumia and to every effort aimed at consolidating the party’s base, rebuilding public trust, and preparing adequately for victory in 2028,” Adwoa Safo affirmed.
