Africa no longer wants promises but results: Former EC boss
The former Electoral Commissioner (EC) of Ghana, Mrs Charlotte Osei, has advised the graduating cohort of the PK Amoabeng Scholars Foundation Programme to lead the way in transforming Africa.
Speaking during the induction and graduation ceremony of Cohort 1 and 2 in Accra, Thursday, December 19, 2024, Mrs Osei stressed the importance of leadership in shaping the future of the continent.
According to her, the people of Africa are no longer interested in promises but demand results from their leaders.
"The people of Africa no longer want promises; they want results. They want leadership that is honest, transparent, and effective. And it is you, the graduating cohort, who must lead the way," she proclaimed.
Mrs Osei, also, noted the graduation ceremony's timing held great value, being a post-election 2024 event.
She said, the graduating cohort had been assigned a unique mission to lead the African renaissance - a movement to transform the continent by confronting and eradicating mediocrity, corruption, and inefficiency.
"The era of choosing leaders based on religion, ethnicity, or political affiliation is behind us. This is a new age," Mrs Osei announced.
"We are in an era where leaders are chosen based on merit - their ability to serve, to deliver, and to inspire change."
