Akufo-Addo 85% through to making Accra cleanest city in Africa – Sanitation Minister
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is 85 per cent through to making Accra the cleanest city in Africa, Minister for Sanitation, Cecilia Abena Dapaah has said.
Speaking to the media as part of a sanitation tour and clean up exercise in parts of Maamobi in Accra on Tuesday, 11 August 2020, Ms Dapaah said the declaration in 2017 by the President to make Ghana’s capital city the cleanest on the continent by the end of his first term in office has progressed steadily and could have been better if not for the easing of the COVID-19 restrictions.
According to her, the government achieved a 100 per cent results during the lockdown in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
Responding to the progress made so far by the President, Ms Dapaah said: “I will give it 85 per cent because at the end of the day we are all saw the 100 per cent we did during the lockdown. Now I will give it 85 per cent because at the end of the day who makes Accra dirty, us. That is why we are everyday sensitising people…I know you’ll quote it and I insist its 85 per cent”.
