Akufo-Addo's regime was a 'loot-o-cracy' – Ablakwa
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) led by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo engaged in a form of governance best described as a "loot-o-cracy," according to Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
"They were looting like there was no tomorrow," he bemoaned.
He cited the National Cathedral project in Accra and its foundation which he called the most expensive pit in the world.
The North Tongu MP was glad he intercepted multiple documents proving the government had deceived parliament and the people of Ghana concerning the source of funds and management of the controversial project.
Ablakwa indicated the NDC minority in parliament was willing to discuss the National Cathedral project and settle on an appropriate budget for it but were, however, kept in the dark by the NPP.
He said president-elect John Mahama would investigate projects like the aforementioned, probe the "looting of lands", and the mismanagement of public funds, among other things.
"The coffers are empty," Ablakwa lamented, underlining the NDC's proposed Operation Recover All Loot [ORAL] would be instrumental in getting back these funds for redirection into productive national ventures to the benefit of the country.
He indicated the NDC would be sure to identify "the evidence required" to make ORAL not just successful but equitable.
Ablakwa spoke to TV3.
