Bawumia dwarfs Mahama in latest polls

A recent poll conducted by Outcomes International suggests that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, is poised to win the 2024 Presidential Election with the highest percentage of votes.
According to the poll, Dr. Bawumia is projected to secure 49.4% of the total votes, closely followed by John Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, with 45.1%.
The survey, conducted between August and September 2024, interviewed thousands of registered voters across all regions of Ghana.
It also indicates that less than 1 percent (0.3%) of the votes will go to other candidates, while 5.2% of voters remain undecided.
The report further reveals that Dr. Bawumia is expected to win in 11 out of the 16 regions, leaving Mr. Mahama with victories in just 5 regions.
Despite the narrow margin, the findings confirm a close contest between the two leading candidates.
"Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will win in 11 out of 16 regions, while Mr. Mahama will secure 5 regions.
Overall, the results show a very tight race with Dr. Bawumia leading with 49.4% and Mr. Mahama trailing at 45.1%.
However, 5.2% of respondents remain undecided, and 0.3% plan to vote for other candidates," the poll stated.
As the December 2024 Presidential Election approaches, it remains a two-horse race between former President John Mahama and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Although previous polls have fluctuated, placing either candidate ahead at different times, this latest survey gives Dr. Bawumia a slight advantage over Mahama, who has been unsuccessful in his bids to return to power since his 2016 defeat.
