Bawumia pledges to scrap passport forms, simplify process with Ghana Card integration

The flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has promised to streamline passport applications, replacing the traditional form process with a Ghana Card-based system if he wins the upcoming December presidential election.
Speaking on his campaign tour in the Oti Region, Dr. Bawumia outlined his vision to eliminate the need for passport forms entirely.
Under his proposed system, citizens holding a Ghana Card would only need to pay the passport fee via mobile money, using their Ghana Card number for verification and processing.
“So from next year if you have a Ghana card and you want a passport you don’t need to fill a form anymore,” Dr. Bawumia explained.
Currently, acquiring a passport requires applicants to fill out extensive forms, detailing personal and background information.
