A leading member of the Dr. Bryan Acheampong for President 2028 campaign has cautioned members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) against mischaracterising calls for internal reforms as acts of rebellion or disloyalty.

In a strongly worded Facebook post, Dr Razak Kojo Opoku emphasised that “no one has a monopoly on knowledge” and urged the party’s rank and file to embrace transparency, fairness, and structural reforms as necessary ingredients for electoral success.

The post appears to respond to ongoing debates within the NPP over the direction of the party and growing calls from some quarters for what they describe as a “bottom-up structural surgery” to rejuvenate the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.

“Transparency and fairness should NOT be considered as rebellion or disloyalty,” Dr Opoku wrote, warning that dismissing genuine concerns from party members could prove costly in the future.

He further noted that a popular presidential candidate alone cannot guarantee victory if the party itself is out of touch with the grassroots, stating, “A popular candidate with an unpopular party is a recipe for abysmal electoral performance.”

The remarks reflect simmering tensions within the NPP as it navigates internal dynamics and prepares for a post-2024 era.

As campaign activities begin to intensify, especially around potential presidential hopefuls like Dr. Bryan Acheampong, party unity is expected to dominate the conversation.
