COVID-19: Compile register for the vulnerable to assist them – Okudzeto
The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has said the country must compile a register for the vulnerable “to enable us to assist struggling folks now” because the adverse economic impact on many, as a result of fighting COVID-19, has been devastating.
This, Mr Ablakwa said, is necessary rather than “haggling over a new voters' register for an election far away in December which already has a credible register.”
In the lawmaker’s opinion, the December elections would not be won by a new or old register.
“The winner will be determined by genuine demonstrable empathy for the current humanitarian crisis, a track record of delivery and a compelling vision for the difficult future in a post-pandemic era,” he posted on Facebook adding that “human survival must precede political power.”
