CPP former scribe endorses Mahama for president
Nana Yaa Jantuah, the former General Secretary of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), has declared her endorsement of John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Presidential Candidate, ahead of Ghana's 2024 general elections.
Speaking at the NDC’s final campaign rally at Zurak Park in Madina, Accra, Jantuah expressed confidence in Mahama's leadership and emphasized the need for a new direction in Ghana’s governance.
“I am here because of John Mahama.
I believe Ghana needs to be liberated from the current challenges, and the NDC is the political party capable of leading this change,” she said.
Jantuah praised Mahama’s track record as a former president, describing him as the leader best suited to steer the country toward progress.
“I am officially endorsing John Mahama to be the next president of Ghana.
He has led this country before and did so remarkably well.
It’s time to give him a second chance to complete the good work he started,” she added.
Her endorsement has sparked speculation about a potential shift in her political allegiance from the CPP to the NDC.
Jantuah resigned from her position as CPP General Secretary in December 2023 after party members petitioned the National Executive Committee (NEC) to remove all national executives, citing alleged incompetence.
The NEC subsequently passed a vote of no confidence in the leadership during a meeting in Kumasi.
Before her role in the CPP, Jantuah served as the Public Relations and External Affairs Manager at the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC).
She was elected as CPP General Secretary in August 2020 but stepped down following internal party disputes.
