Constitution Review C'ttee recommends removing Presidential tax exemption

The Constitution Review Consultative Committee has proposed removing Article 68 (5) from the constitution, which exempts the President from paying taxes on their salary and emoluments.
This recommendation aims to promote equality before the law and uphold the principle of the rule of law.
The proposal was highlighted during a stakeholders' consultation session in parliament on Thursday, June 13, 2024.
Former Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, Inusah Fuseini, emphasized some of the committee's suggestions, initially established by the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Osei-Kyei-Mensah Bonsu, in 2023.
