As the country prepares for its upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has reassured residents, particularly in the Volta Region, of their commitment to maintaining peace and stability throughout the electoral process.

Speaking at a durbar in Kpenoe, a community in the Ho Metropolis, Captain Ebenezer Larbi Addo emphasised that the military's role in the election would be purely one of support for the law enforcement agencies, and they would not directly intervene unless absolutely necessary.

"The military will never intimidate anyone during this election," Captain Addo stated, urging Ghanaians to cast their votes peacefully.

He stressed that the armed forces are committed to ensuring a violence-free election and that any disruptions or violence that escalates beyond the capacity of the police would be met with firm action.

Captain Addo further warned that while the military would not be involved in regular election duties, they would act decisively in the event of widespread chaos or threats to national security.

“When the pressure becomes too much for the police service to handle, we will intervene. However, once the military steps in, we will not negotiate our actions. We will deal with those responsible for the violence,” he cautioned.
