Dec. 7 Polls: Janet Nabla, two other women submit nominations to contest presidency
Three prominent female political figures have officially submitted their nomination forms for the December 7th elections.
The candidates, Akua Donkor of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP); Janet Nabla of the People’s National Party (PNP); and Nana Frimpomaa Sarpong Kumankumah, completed the formalities at the Electoral Commission (EC) office on Thursday, 12 September 2024.
Akua Donkor presented her documents to Jean Mensa, the EC Chairperson, and reaffirmed her commitment to addressing the concerns of ordinary Ghanaians.
"I am dedicated to championing the issues that matter to the people and driving meaningful change," Ms. Donkor declared.
Janet Nabla praised the EC for reducing the costs for female candidates but urged the Commission to digitize the filing process to ease the candidacy process.
"While the cost reduction is a positive step, the filing process remains cumbersome. Digitisation would greatly alleviate the stress involved," Ms. Nabla said.
Nana Frimpomaa Sarpong Kumankumah, representing the CPP, highlighted her party’s renewed focus on eradicating poverty and restoring hope to Ghanaians.
"The CPP is back with robust policies aimed at uplifting the nation and offering a genuine alternative to the current political landscape," Ms. Kumankumah emphasised.
